Summary:

Memorial Day weekend was supposed to be perfect for Maggie Reynolds - Dutton’s blow-out party, cliff-diving with her life-long friends – a prelude to the carefree days of summer before the group would take over as seniors. But then something went terribly wrong.
Maggie remembers standing on the cliff, hand-in-hand with her perfect boyfriend Joey, ready to jump into the water below. She remembers that last kiss, soft, lingering, and meant to reassure her. But why can’t she remember what happened in that last moment, so she still stood on the cliff, and Joey ended up dead?
As memories start returning in brief snatches, they just lead to more questions: Why were Joey and his best friend, Adam, fighting at the party? Where did Joey go after dropping her off? And what other secrets was he keeping form her?
With everyone pressuring her to share what happened, her friendships on the verge of collapse, and Adam (who seems to know much more than he’s willing to tell) drifting away from the group, Maggie has never felt so alone.
McBride’s sophomore novel is a searing look at how one moment can alter someone’s entire world.

My Thoughts on the Book:

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about One Moment is intense, or at least the first half or the first two thirds of the book are quite intense.
The author's writing style is really good, she's quite talented, and I loved it. Although I guessed pretty early what was happening & will happen, I still enjoyed every second of it.
The narrating moves between the past & the present, so we learn about all the characters, so they're well developed. Although Maggie has been a little stupid & blind, I still liked her as a character. I'm not commenting on Joey, you wouldn't like for me to express my feelings about him. I loved Adam from the beginning, he's such a sweety, and the only surprise for me in the book which made me quite sad was when Adam tells Maggie something about the meteor shower. Overall, this book is quite sad & heart-breaking read, but that was totally unexpected. I still can't understand why Joey would do that to Adam - his best friend?
Anyway, One Moment is quite an intense read, that will keep you enwrapped in the story of loss, secrets, shock, memory loss because of shock, betrayal, infidelity, friendship & love. So, yeah, quite an emotional, but fast read. I enjoyed a lot this book and I recommend it a lot.
I'll definitely have to check out more of Kristina McBride's works, because as I said - I loved her writing style, and that was the best thing about this book!
