Summary:

Many readers know the tale of Robin Hood, but they will be swept away by this new version full of action, secrets, and romance.

Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in.

It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for.

My Thoughts on the Book:

Scarlet is a great re-telling of the legend of Robin Hood. We've all seen or read some version of his legend & we know the characters in it & in this one Will Scarlet is actually a girl. The book is written from Scarlet's PoV. I loved this book & if not for one thing that annoyed me, it will probably gotten a 5-star rating. Lets start with the thing that annoyed me or should I say the character that annoyed me - John or usually known as Little John. When I met him, I thought that he'll be a fun character, but I quickly changed my mind - he just annoyed me so much the way he acted toward Scarlet. I mean - why a love triangle? There shouldn't be one - definitely not between these 3 people. And if there'll be one, put it in the book summary, so we'll know. Sorry, but I just dislike love triangles so much, and I especially hate it if it's not in the book description, and that's happening more often lately & I get irritated. As I said, I found John really annoying & he's the only reason why I stopped reading this book 2 times, instead of reading it in one sitting, which I probably would've done. Now, onto the good things about this book. I loved Robin (or Rob, as they're calling him) from the beginning - who wouldn't? He was such a great character & everything a younger Robin Hood you'd expect him to be. And he's yummy, too ;) Scarlet is also such a great character. She had already been through so much, becoming this great thief & she's also great with knives, so a kickass heroine that always has these great plans to save or help everyone, not caring if she die trying. There wasn't a lot of romance in this book, only John annoying me a lot, trying to romance Scarlet. It was more about how Scarlet, Rob, John, Much & the rest help those in need & each other. I also loved Much, he was such a great character. The sheriff & especially Gisbourne were quite the villains, even worse than I expected them to be. I don't want to go into details, not to spoil the story, but this book made me laugh, made me sad, and definitely kept me on the edge of my sit with all the action. I especially loved the conversations between Scarlet & Rob when they talked about their past - definitely heart-breaking! And Rob & Scarlet were definitely perfect for each other! It had also great ending & I'm hoping for sequel, although it's not necessary, but I'm still hoping the author is planning one (please). Anyway, Scarlet is really interesting Robin Hood re-telling that I highly recommend & I still haven't decided, but there's a good possibility it will go on my to-buy list, so I definitely recommend it!
