"They say it takes a lot of physical and mental toughness to bargain with the energy dragons and manipulate the earth forces. It is even whispered among the candidates that a Dragoneye slowly gives up his own life-force to a Dragon in return for the ability to work the energies, and that the pact ages him beyond his years."

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #74

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is being hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

This is a great weekly event where everyone can keep track of the books finished last week & the books planning to read this week!

Last week I read one novella (Happily Never After by Jeaniene Frost - Night Huntress 1.5 & I loved it), one novel (One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost - Night Huntress book 2 & I also loved it) & one graphic novel - The Girl Who Owned a City based on the novel with the same title by O. T. Nelson. I haven't read the original novel, but I liked a lot the graphic novel.

I have no idea what I'll be reading this week. I wouldn't say that I'm in a reading slump (doesn't feel like a slump) but it's been a few days since I've read something - I just don't feel like reading with everything that's been going on in my life, I can't really concentrate, so if I read something this week, I have no idea what that'll be...

"Waiting On" Wednesday #63: Timeless & Discount Armageddon!

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Timeless
(The Parasol Protectorate, book #5)
by
Gail Carriger

Publication date:
March 1st, 2012

Summary:
Alexia Tarabotti, Lady Maccon, has settled into domestic bliss. Of course, being Alexia, such bliss involves integrating werewolves into London High society, living in a vampire's second best closet, and coping with a precocious toddler who is prone to turning supernatural willy-nilly. Even Ivy Tunstell's acting troupe's latest play, disastrous to say the least, cannot put a damper on Alexia's enjoyment of her new London lifestyle.

Until, that is, she receives a summons from Alexandria that cannot be ignored. With husband, child, and Tunstells in tow, Alexia boards a steamer to cross the Mediterranean. But Egypt may hold more mysteries than even the indomitable Lady Maccon can handle. What does the vampire Queen of the Alexandria Hive really want from her? Why is the God-Breaker Plague suddenly expanding? And how has Ivy Tunstell suddenly become the most popular actress in all the British Empire?

Discount Armageddon
(InCryptid, book #1)
by
Seanan MaGuire

Publication date:
March 6th, 2012

Summary:
Ghoulies. Ghosties. Long-legged beasties. Things that go bump in the night...
The Price family has spent generations studying the monsters of the world, working to protect them from humanity-and humanity from them.
Enter Verity Price. Despite being trained from birth as a cryptozoologist, she'd rather dance a tango than tangle with a demon, and is spending a year in Manhattan while she pursues her career in professional ballroom dance. Sounds pretty simple, right? It would be, if it weren't for the talking mice, the telepathic mathematicians, the asbestos supermodels, and the trained monster-hunter sent by the Price family's old enemies, the Covenant of St. George.
When a Price girl meets a Covenant boy, high stakes, high heels, and a lot of collateral damage are almost guaranteed. To complicate matters further, local cryptids are disappearing, strange lizard-men are appearing in the sewers, and someone's spreading rumors about a dragon sleeping underneath the city...

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #73

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is being hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

This is a great weekly event where everyone can keep track of the books finished last week & the books planning to read this week!

I had really great reading week! All books I read were good & after all that reading, I'll take a break :) That happens to me sometimes after reading good books one after the other ;)

So last week I finished 4 books I had previously started & read 2 more books - a total of 6 books & they were all YA. I finished Halflings by Heather Burch (my review), Scarlet by A. C. Gaughen (my review), Forsaken by Jana Oliver & Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey. I also read Forbidden by Jana Oliver [can't wait for Forgiven - it's seriously time for some Beck & Riley lovin' ;)] & I read My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent! As I said, I enjoyed a lot or loved all of these, but if I have to choose - best read of the week was Shattered Souls - I loved it, the only one that got rating of 5 this week ;) it was just so romantic! I have no idea what I'll read next, I'm taking a break from reading, so depends what I'll be in mood for in a few days ;)

Happy reading everyone!!!

Top 5 Sundays: Book Series I Plan to Finish in 2012!

Top 5 Sundays is a weekly feature with a different bookish theme hosted by Larissa at her blog Welcome to Larissa's Bookish Life

This week's theme is Book Series I Plan to Finish in 2012.

You can join HERE!

This year I've decided to turn my attention to series I've already started, but haven't finished. So, that's why I'll have not only Top 5 Series I Plan to finish in 2012, but special mentions, too!

So, My Top 5 Series I Plan to Finish in 2012 (in no particular order) are:

1. The Graveyard Queen by Amanda Stevens

I've already read & loved The Restorer - the first book in this trilogy from galley last year & it was one of my favorite reads in 2011 & since than I've been waiting for books 2 & 3: The Kingdom & The Prophet! I actually have both of them as galleys, but haven't read them (they'll be published in March & April), but I'm waiting for my paperback copy of The Restorer to arrive, so I'll re-read it first (I wonder if it will be just as creepy) & than I'll read the sequels & I really can't wait!!!

2. Morpheus Road by D. J. MacHale

The final book in this great YA trilogy The Blood will be finally published at the end of March & I can't wait to see how everything will end!!! I'm actually planning to re-read books 1 & 2 The Light & The Black before reading The Blood, because although I remember almost everything that happens in them, I know I'll still love them! I love re-reading books :)

3. Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger

Before 2012, I had read only the first 2 books in the series: Soulless & Changeless. Since than, I read Blameless last month & I have already started Heartless, so I'm already on my way of finishing the series ;) The last book in the series Timeless will be out in around 10 days! I still say that Soulless was the best book in the series, but it's still fun series & of course I can't wait to see how it ends!

4. Seven Realms by Cinda Williams Chima

I absolutely love this epic fantasy YA series. I've read only the first 2 books The Demon King & The Exiled Queen, so I'm yet to get & read the 3rd book The Gray Wolf Throne & the final book The Crimson Crown is scheduled to be published in October & I can't wait to read the complete series!!!

5. The Demon Trappers by Jana Oliver

I already started finishing this series. I re-read Forsaken (I read it a year ago)  & at the moment I'm reading Forbidden! The 3rd book Forgiven will be out in 10 days & after that the last book Foretold is scheduled for August.

And now for some other series I'm planning to finish:

Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter

Lords of the Underworld was my #1 series I planned to finish in 2012 & I got right into it. In January I read books 6-8 & now I'm only waiting for The Darkest Seduction to be out!

Curse Workers by Holly Black

I read White Cat & Red Glove last year & I loved them & of course I can't wait for the last book Black Heart. I'm still really bummed about the change of the covers :( The black-red-white covers for all the books were perfect, really fitted the series...

House of Comarre by Kristen Painter

I read the 1st book Blood Rights last year from galley & I loved it - really great world-building and such amazing covers, so I'm planning to buy the trilogy & finally read it!

 Seven Kingdoms by Kristin Cashore

So far I've read only Graceling, but since than I've been waiting for Bitterblue's book, which is called Bitterblue ;) Of course I'll have to read the second book Fire first!

Pendragon by D. J. MacHale

The Lost City of FaarThe Never WarThe Reality Bug
Black WaterThe Rivers of ZadaaThe Quillan Games
The Pilgrims of RayneRaven RiseThe Soldiers of Halla

Every year I'm saying to myself that I'll finish this series. So far I've only read the first book in the series The Merchant of Death a few years ago, and of course I want to re-read it first & than read the rest, but they're 10 in total, so I guess that's one of the things that discourages me a little, although hopefully I'll finally read them this year :)
